Thomas Gunter, Operations Manager

The well-loved Sunshine Coast burger experience has found a home at Haven Newstead, and Thomas has been integral in keeping the vibe authentic and the food delicious. With 16 years of experience leading teams across a range of dining concepts, he ensures that Betty’s stays a neighbourhood favourite for dine in, takeaway and delivery.

Stroll into Betty’s for dessert, Thomas makes a decadent lemon raspberry cheesecake concrete!

Bar E’cco and E’cco Bistro

Philip Johnson, Owner and Chef

New Zealand-born, Philip Johnson is one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs,honing his skills in Australia, London and New Zealand before settling in Brisbane which he now calls home.

Philip opened his landmark bistro, e’cco, in 1995 and very quickly made a name for himself with his win of the 1997 Remy Martin Cognac/AustralianGourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year award. 23 years on, Johnson’s e’cco bistro has received a multitude of accolades and recognition and is currently a Good Food Guide Awards hatted restaurant.

In March of 2018, e’cco completed the Haven family with it’s iconic, yet relaxed fine dining experience.

Cheeky Pokē Bar

Sam Demetriou, Co-Owner

Cheeky Poke Bar is the newest venture for the owners of Portside’s Fresh N Wild Fish – a family run business giving old school fish and
chips a modern makeover. But, what Cheeky Poke Bar achieves is even more surprising: Hawaiian and Japanese fusion with an Australian twist. Co-owner Sam Demetriou knew Haven was the perfect location to bring this cheeky concept to life and he hasn’t cut any corners.

Find out for yourself with a customised Poke bowl with fresh or seared fish, chicken, tofu and a neverending mixture of rice, noodles, fresh salads and condiments.

Miele

Kym Pitt and Isobel Dreisenstock, culinary experts

Inspiration awaits at the home of Miele. Isobel and Kim can be found leading the free Miele appliance demonstrations, hosted in the beautiful dining room at the Haven Newstead location. With fifty years of combined culinary experience, they succeed in helping customers make the right product selection to enhance their lifestyle, while also offering existing Miele owner’s the opportunity to master their appliances and take their cooking to a the next level.

Brisbanites may recognise Kym from well-loved businesses The Anthill Deli at Wilston and Fraiche Deli Providores at Graceville. Isobel brings a wealth of international culinary knowledge, having worked as a private chef on superyachts and homes throughout Europe and London

Stefano De Blasi, Co-Owner

Salt Meats Cheese first wowed Sydney diners in 2012 and has expanded to five more locations including Surfers Paradise. Now, the cousin-duo owners Stefano De Blasi and Edoardo Perlo bring their love of mixing theatre with food to a new restaurant at Haven – their first to offer indoor and al fresco dining. Salt Meats Cheese is about honest cooking using quality ingredients to re-create classic Italian dishes with a modern Australian twist. Be sure to taste their infamous flaming cheese wheel pasta.

Drip at Haven

Callum Rogers, Chef

Callum started in kitchens at the age of 16, with a full focus on upmarket Italian cuisine. He learned from Michelin trained mentors, before working as part of the opening team at Jamie’s Italian. After a successful couple of years with Jamie Oliver, he returned to his native Perth to take on the role of Young Chef Ambassador in Western Australia and was the recipient of the AHA Rising Star award.

After returning from 6 years travelling and working in Canada, the UK and New Zealand, Callum jumped into the role as Head Chef of Short Order kitchen in Newstead.
